  CNC Machining
  Since 1985, Glass Fab has been a leader in the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining of optical materials to precise tolerances. We are innovative in our fixturing and tooling which allows us to produce a wide variety of shapes and sizes with the fewest number of setups, which increases accuracy and productivity.
  The basic machine operations we perform routinely include;
  • Milling squares and rectangles with radiused or chamfered corners.
  • Drilling and milling holes at specific positions on a part.
  • Milling parts with thru or blind pockets.
  • Milling chamfers and/or steps on the outside of parts, inside of pockets, or inside of holes.
  • Generating of Optical Prism Blanks
  We have machined light weighted mirror blanks, wind tunnel windows, vacuum fixtures, laser gyroscope blanks, holographic ring blanks.. just to name a few. With our 4 axis machine we can mill complex 3 dimensional shapes also.
  Standard Tolerances are .004" -.010" on dimensions, and 10 - 30 minutes on angles. Extreme tolerances can be held to .0005" on dimensions, and 30 seconds on angles.
